Clematis - Suzanne

Clematis Suzanne, Clematis 'Suzanne' PPAF, is a new compact variety with large 6 inch semi-double blooms. The rounded flower petals are a light mauve pink and highlighted by a dark rose bar. The second row of petals gives the flowers a very full appearance. The compact growth habit makes 'Suzanne' perfect for climbing a mailbox post. Clematis 'Suzanne' needs a supporting structure to grow properly, and it is easy to grow with a rich, porous, alkaline soil that has plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply a generous mulch or a shallow-rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Very reliable performers once established; they take a season or two. Prune lightly above the new leaf buds in early spring and remove any dead or weak stems.
