Mountain Rose, Rosa woodsii, has buds that open to lovely pink blooms that carry a sweet scent. As autumn approaches, it provides persistent glossy red hips that serve as food for wildlife, as well as providing lovely ornamentation to a planting. It is a very graceful, small, and tidy shrub, producing a tight thicket over time. Tolerant of light shade and challenging conditions, this is an adaptable and beautiful rose. Own root. Growth is generally best on moderately fertile, well-drained clay loam, sandy loam, or sandy soils. The fall foliage is often very colorful, in amber and ruddy hues.
